Siri is specialised as a maritime and insurance lawyer for more than twenty years. He has extensive experience in handling maritime claims settlement and negotiations. Siri has solid experience in advising and assisting shipowners, charterers, insurance companies, traders and P&I clubs in all disputes resolution proceeding before courts and arbitration.
Siri worked for several years as a maritime legal consultant for the largest shipping group in Jordan (shipowners, charterers, ship agents and shipping lines agents) beside other large raw material exporting companies such as Arab Potash Company. He worked for 11 years at Al Tamimi & Company law firm as senior associate in the Transport and Insurance department. During this period he worked for one year and six months in Amman office, eight years in Dubai office and one year and six months in Al khobar office in KSA.
He is experienced in all aspects of contentious and non-contentious transport and insurance related matters. His experience extends to legal proceedings including London arbitration under LMAA rules and in preparing vessel sale and purchase contracts, registry and insurance. He also has knowledge in drafting and analysing carriage of goods (by sea and land) contracts including all types of charterparties.
Litigation
● Handling arbitration of shipping cases and liaising with international law firms in relation to representation of theses arbitration claims.
● Handling and settling all types of claims including insurance claims, cargo claims, claims related to carriage of goods by air, shipbuilding, repairs and charterparty claims.
● Litigating all types of shipping and insurance claims in the UAE and KSA (including cargo claims, insurance claims, collision claims, chartering claims, bunker supply claims and ship repair claims) and successfully representing local and international shipping and insurance clients in the UAE and KSA.
● Assisting clients in ship arrests and attachment of assets in the UAE and the Gulf.
● Successfully litigating various types of commercial and Civil cases in the UAE and KSA including tort claims and claims arising out of civil and commercial contracts such as contractors’ work, commercial agencies and sales of goods. This is in addition to enforcement of ship mortgage, foreign arbitral awards and judgments
Non-contentious shipping, insurance and commercials
● Reviewing and advising in relation to various contractual terms including insurance policies, shipbuilding, charterparties (whether voyage, Time or bareboat charterparties), ship agency, lease of shipping containers, ship management, transport contracts, commercial contracts, products warranty and services terms and conditions and contracts, buildings renovation agreements, domestic and international sales of goods contracts, letters of credit, supply of goods and services contracts, purchase orders and corporate contracts including article of association and other corporate documents.
● Reviewing and advising on contracts of sale of ships and following up ship’s registry and their insurance.
● Reviewing and advising in relation to carriage of goods (by sea and land) contracts including all types of bills of lading in relation to various types of cargoes and containers.
● Handling settlement of various types of claims (including shipping, insurance and commercial) and drafting all relevant documents including notices, undertakings, power of attorney, guarantees, settlement agreements and discharge and release arrangements.
● Advising numerous local and international shipping and insurance companies in relation to corporate structuring and regulatory framework in the UAE and abroad.
● Advising clients in relation to ship finance including registration of mortgages in the UAE and KSA and enforcement of foreign maritime mortgages in the UAE and KSA.
● Provide advisory review on maritime and insurance regulatory framework in the UAE.
● Seconded as general legal counsel to Abu Dhabi Ship Building Company for 6 months (4th April 2015 – 5th October 2015).
Contracting & Corporate Law
● Extensive experience in different international laws and statutes namely Jordan, UAE, Egypt, KSA and England various civil and commercial laws.
● Vast experience in drafting and analyzing companies’ contracts, commercial contracts whether in Arabic or English.
● Preparation of the legal frame of companies’ structures and relevant registrations in Jordan and as BVI financial instruments.
● Mastering the Arabic-English legal duality necessary for business activities across the Middle East.
● Advise the companies on all matters related to their commercial and corporate matters including drafting corporate documents and commercial contracts (i.e. article of associations and amendments, minutes of meetings for the general assembly meetings, joint ventures and projects documents and tenders).
● Drafting and reviewing of various types of commercial contracts such as supply contracts, cooperation agreements, contractors’ agreements, commercial agencies, supply of services contracts, joint ventures, business development agreement and franchise agreements.
● Advising clients in relation to customs matters, bonded zone storage, logistics and warehousing contracts.
● Participate in drafting customs regulation in KSA in relation to creation of bonded zone in King Abdullah Economic City.
Eyad holds Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/ Accounting Department, Mutah University, 1998 and he is a member of the Jordanian Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Eyad has over 15 years of insightful experience within various sectors in external and internal auditing and in tax related matters. Accounting Auditing experience:
As an external auditor, Eyad has experience in initiating consulting services over accounting processes and internal control systems, operating as an outsourced controller for various clients, reviewing financial activity, GL entries, budgets and projections.
As an internal auditor, Eyad is experienced in initiating internal audits, maintaining a risk based on the evaluation of the control environment, maintaining the necessary audit programs and assigning accordingly the suitable staff. Reviews he conducted included assurance of proper internal controls, cost effectiveness analysis and compliance with companies’ policy and procedures.
He is also experienced in applying the proper internal control within the organization, identifying and managing multiple and cross-enterprise risks, identifying the needed measures’ tools and indicators to assist the operation team in achieving their goals, budgeting and planning for the company in different areas and periodic analysis of operations’ performance. Tax Experience:
Eyad is experienced in VAT and income Tax law and its application to companies businesses. As an experienced auditor and Tax related matters he handles the following tasks:
